Shawn Elliott + Georgia State

Georgia State athletic director Charlie Cobb fired football coach Trent Miles after Saturday’s 37-23 loss to Louisiana-Monroe at the Georgia Dome.

Miles was 2-8 this season and 9-38 overall at Georgia State.

According to the 247Sports Georgia State site, Gamecocks offensive line coach Shawn Elliott, a longtime friend of Georgia State athletics director Charlie Cobb, is expected to be on the radar of the Sun Belt program as they look to fill the vacancy.

Based on the relationship between Cobb and Elliott, many close to the GSU program have indicated Elliott would be at the top of Cobb’s list for the vacant head coaching job at Georgia State.
